Course description
This course aims to provide basic understanding of the physical phenomena and core technologies used for photonic systems including fiber optic communication systems and optical sensing systems.
Expected Learning
By the end of the course, the students should be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding in the following issues:
1) Optical wave propagation in an optical fiber
2) Nonlinear phenomena in an optical fiber
3) Basic concept of photonic systems using optical coherence and their applications
