Course description
We acquire the idea of activities to manage and complete the project successfully. In this subject, we learn mainly about PMBOK's knowledge system. Specifically, we learn about the items such as the history and purpose of project management, software development project, activities necessary for project management, WBS creation and resource management, actual operations such as estimation and quality control, and so on.
Expected Learning
The student can understand and explain the items such as project management history and purpose, software development project, activities necessary for project management, WBS creation and resource management, actual operation such as estimation and quality control. See the curriculum maps.
Course schedule
We divide the following contents into 5 times and do in 5 weeks (3 frames / day).
1. Guidance
Learn the general outline of the lecture and the outline of the exercise to be carried out in this class.
2. Software development process
Learn concrete concepts such as an overview of software development process, waterfall model, spiral model.
3. Project management in software development
Learn points to keep in mind when applying project management to general project management and software development.
4. Project life cycle and organization
Learn about life cycle concept in project and organization necessary for turning life cycle.
5. Project management and PMBOK
Learn about the history and outline of PMBOK, which defines knowledge system of project management, characteristics, and application to actual project management.
6. Project launch and scope definition
Learn the tasks necessary at the time of project launch and the definition of scope which is an important concept and particularly the success or failure of the project.
7. WBS and resource planning
Learn how to create WBS to break down work in the project and resource management related to the project.
8. Create schedule
Learn how to create schedules based on WBS and resource planning and how to manage schedules.
9. Cost Estimate
Understand how cost estimates are, and learn how to estimate costs related to project execution.
10. Risk management
Understand the various risks related to project execution and learn about risk management in project management.
11. Project Team
Understand the importance of the team in project execution and learn about the points of developing the project team.
12. Performance management and control
Learn how to measure the project performance during project execution and how to control under project management.
13. Communication management
Learn how to manage communication between participating members and outside in the project.
14. Quality control of results
Learn how to manage the quality of project deliverables and points of quality improvement.
15. Procurement and project closure
Learn the procurement in the project and the work required at the end of the project.
Prerequisites
None. But, In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to prepare for and revise the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University and using the lecture handouts as well as the references specified below.
