Course description |
“Period for Integrated Studies” is the most suitable area to practice “Active Learning”. “Active Learning” is the teaching method for learners to learn more actively. Schools provide the learning tasks that are considered to be appropriate for achieving students’ goals by utilizing the community’s feature. In most cases, school students decide the theme independently. In this class, participants will consider the educational effect of “Active Learning” by considering the better teaching method, make a teaching plan and practice the plan at the children’s zoo “Shinobazu lab” at Ueno zoo. |

Achieve the skill of making and practicing the teaching plan that fits the objective by considering what ability that can be cultivated and by understanding how to practice activities at “Period for Integrated Studies”. |
Course schedule |
(1)What is “Period of Integrated Studies”? Learn about “Period of Integrated Studies” at junior high school and high school. (7th/October, 6 period) The first goal of “Period of Integrated Studies” at high school is “To aim nurturing attributes and abilities of identifying and solving problems considering one’s way of life. They will nurture those abilities by practicing cross-sectional and integrated studies by functioning the sense of exploration”. Also, “the ability to find problems through social involvement, setting tasks, collecting and sorting information, and expressing it” is required. Participants of this class will understand the aim of “Period of Integrated Studies” and will learn how to make the teaching plan, contents and evaluation. (2)Experience nature environment activities. (3)Participate, observe, evaluate Ueno Zoo learning program. This program will be conducted in two groups, Group A will participate on 13th/October and 8th/December, Group B will participate on 11th/October and 12th/January. Participants will experience program for visitors (children and parents) of children’s zoo “Shinobazu Lab” and will observe and evaluate the program. Learn about the animals in children’s zoo and Lake Shinobazu. Understand the manner, rules and the way to correspond in emergency situation. (4)Discuss about the evaluation, teaching guidance and improvements on “Period of Integrated Studies” and summarize your opinion. 20th/January, 6th period. |

Participating the field study at Children zoo in Ueno zoo is mandatory. |
