Course description |
This is the first course taken by all entering GPP students. The aim is for each student to acquire the following three skills needed for taking more advanced courses of GPP. 1. Communication skills (Japanese) -Training is provided in active listening and assertion (both concepts and skills) needed for smooth communication with others who have different perspectives and values. 2. Thinking skills as a next-generation scientist (Japanese) -Students learn methods of information gathering and analysis on scientific themes of concern to international society, to broaden their range of thought beyond their own concerns and interests. -Training is provided in developing and logically summing up one's own opinions. 3. English skills for communicating as a next-generation scientist (English) -Based on 1 and 2, students learn expressions and vocabulary to improve their English skills for communicating as a next-generation scientist. -Writing training is provided for summing up opinions in English. -Training is provided for presenting and debating opinions in English. |
