Course description
Students learn the features and characteristics of natural disaster. Students learn the basics of meteorology and soil mechanics which are deeded to understand the natural disaster.
Expected Learning
Understanding the basics of meteorology and soil mechanics, and being able to give a schematic explanation about the mechanism of the natural disaster.

Course schedule
1. Class guidance and natural disaster example
2. Basic theory of meteorology. The atmosphere circulation, Coriolis force, westerlies wind, a monsoon, the typhoon
3. Meteorology basics. Periodic wind, a world climate, climate change
4. Slope failure and landslide. Soil erosion, the transportation of the earth and sand,
5. Slope safety factor and the basic of soil mechanics
6. Recent natural disasters, earthquake, flood, and volcano
7. Student presentation for the natural disasters
Prerequisites
Please perform preparations, review (out-of-class learning).
The required study time is based on the standard hours of the university.
