Course description
This course is a two-day intensive lectures given by Mariko INOUE, a member of the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute. It is positioned as a subject related to resource use in specialized subjects of department of environmental and natural resource sciences. In this lecture, we will consider the relationship between the use of wood and the environment. And it aims to acquire basic knowledge and skills on forest education and MOKUIKU that widely spreading the goodness of wood and the use of wood. We will provide an overview of forest education, environmental education, and wood education MOKUIKU. In addition, we will experience of educational programs, and we will make a plan and implement educational programs with group activities."Learn about the effects of forest resources on people's bodies and minds, and deepen their understanding of how to use resources in living space and maintain health. We also learn about extraction methods, component compositions, analysis methods, etc. In addition, you actually measure the physiological response when you smell."
Expected Learning
The standard for this lecture are to be able to understand significance of wood utilization for create a sustainable society, and to understand the basic knowledge of environmental education, forest education, and MOKUIKU, and to participate in the planning and management of educational programs.

Prerequisites
Students are recommended to prepare for and revise the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University. In addition to the 8 hours of class time, students are needed to work on assignments (including report and group activities).
Required Text(s) and Materials
“Wood Proficiency Test” managed by the wood proficiency test committee in the Society of Wood Utilization System (on-line examination system) or, textbooks about it.
