Aim: The aim of this course is to review the forest science program through active learning method. The key theme is forest certification. Summary: The course provides: 1) key points of forest management with the special viewpoints on forest certification program. |

Day 1: Class 1: Guidance Class 2-3: Outlines of forest certification program Day 2: Class 4-7 Key points of certified forest management: Silviculture, Erosion Control, Wildlife Management, Agroforestry Day 3: Class 8-12: Field excursion for the FSC certified forest and CoC forest industries in Yamanashi Prefecture Day 4: Class 13-15: Group presentation of sustainable forest management plan of the Karqasawa-Yama Experiment forest and Discussion |

Getting credits of the required packages for forest science program is desirable. Students need to preview and review for an amount of time as indicated in the student guidelines of TUAT, in addition to the attendance of lecture (30 hours). |
