Course description
Understand the field as applied veterinary medicine. In recent years, many animal infectious diseases including foot and mouth disease (FMD), highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and food borne diseases are big problems not only for animal health but also for public health. It is important for veterinary students to study animal health and public health in the field where veterinarians are working.
In this class, students visit fields, including livestock hygiene service centers, health institute for health centers, national institute of health, national institute of animal health etc. and study their work.
Expected Learning
Students can understand veterinarian’s role in the different fields.

Course schedule
Students need to visit one of the centers for at least 5 days. They need submit reports to Prof. Fujikawa or Prof. Takehara within 2 weeks after the field trainings.
Prerequisites
Students need to attend orientation for this course by Prof. Fujikawa or Prof. Takehara.
