Course description |
Based on elementary grammar and reading, this course is designed to develop a higher level of proficiency in translation or written communication. Emphasis is on intercultural Understanding in German. This course is offered to advance students' intercultural understanding applying the knowledge and skills acquired in German I and II. |
Expected Learning |
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to: 1. read and write high level German text with the aid of a dictionary. 2. understand and explain German culture. 1. Orientation and exercise of grammar 2. German Exercise: text reading, translation communication (1): word order, usage of adjective and genitive 3. German Exercise: text reading, translation communication (2): frame of sentence, preposition, verb 4. German Exercise: text reading, translation communication (3): conjunctive, dative (possession) 5. German Exercise: text reading, translation communication (4): subordinate sentence, word order 6. German Exercise: text reading, translation communication (5): relative pronoun 7. German Exercise: text reading, translation communication (6): relation adverb, passive sentence 8. German Exercise: text reading, translation communication (7): functions verb and its frame 9. Prerequisites |
Students are requested to take "German Ⅰ・Ⅱ" . Text of grammar and dictionary are needed. Students are recommended to spend 45 minutes in preparing for each class, and another 45 minutes in completing assignments and revising the class. |

Assessment/Grading |
Exam (60%):to assess reading and tranlation ability based on a basic (German I) and further grammar knowledge. Class participation (40%): Class attendance and communication expression ability using text sentences is evaluated |
