Course description
Animal welfare may be misunderstood as welfare for human using animals, such as animal therapy. Animal welfare is also apt to be confused with animal rights, but animal welfare is not necessarily the case of accepting animal’s rights. We have a responsibility to treat captive animals with consideration of welfare. In this course, each type of welfare for various kinds of captive animals, such as livestock, experimental animal, zoo animal, companion animal, and working animal will be lectured.

This class is closely related with "Human-animal interactions and relationships" class. Students are expected to attend at "Human-animal interactions and relationships" class.

This is part of the Courses of Package and/or Recommended Subject, and its completion is recommended for students in the Department of Ecoregion Science.
