Course description
Students will learn about enzyme's functions and its integrated system; metablism and photosynthesis system. The mechanism of the highly efficient catalytic reactions of enzyme and the way to control those reactions is the key point of study.
Expected Learning
Understanding the fundamental biochemistry is the key task of this lecture. After learning the basic biochemistry, this lecture will help better and more profound understanding of the students.
Important view point is "molecular level", therefore knowledge and understanding of chemistry is very important.
Course schedule
According to the text book "Biochemistry (Stryer)", The student will learn Capter 8-10 and 15-19. The important issues to be learned are as follows;
1: Mechanism of enzyme reaction
2: Strategy for catalytic reaction of enzyme
3: Strategy for control of enzyme fucntion
4: Total view of metabolism
5: Glycolysis and glyconeogenesis
6: Citric cycle
7: Oxydative phosphorylation
8: Photosynthesis
Prerequisites
To better understanding, it is recommended to take the lecture of "Basic phycics", "Basic Chemistry" and "Basic biology". This is a part of learning the course of Biochemistry and Molecular biology.
Required Text(s) and Materials
Biochemistry (Stryer), 7th edition
