The students are expected to obtain the experimental skills related to life science and biotechnology. This course will be performed by each corresponding laboratory. |

Saito Laboratory: The students will acquire basic knowledge and experimental skills, and should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report. Mori Laboratory: Students will learn methods on how to read and review scientific journals related to their respective research to further understand their research background and also extract important information. In addition, basic training on the handling of microorganisms will also be provided. Nakazawa Laboratory: The students will acquire basic knowledge and experimental skills about biomaterials, and should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report. Kuroda Laboratory: The students will acquire basic skills about the construction and analysis of database, protein structure and physical chemistry. Ozeki and Yamada Laboratory: The students will acquire skills and knowledge involved in plant biotechnology. (for example; plant cell culture, gene cloning and sequencing, producing genetic modified plant) Miyaura and Inada Laboratory: The students will acquire skills about biochemistry, gene analyses and tissue culture, and should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report. Ohta Laboratory: The students will acquire skills about mammalian cell culture, isolation of organelle and live-imaging technique of cells and organelle. Tanaka and Arakaki Laboratory, Yoshino Laboratory: The student should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report. The students will be evaluated by their understanding of the research background, performance presentation and capability to answer the questions scientifically. Nakamura and Ichikawa Laboratory: The students will acquire basic analytical skills related to physical property assessment of synthetic materials. Ikebukuro, Tsugawa and Asano Laboratory: The students will acquire basic skills related to protein and nucleic acid engineering for technologies of biological molecules, and make experiments for producing of biological molecules leading to functional analysis. National Institute of Neuroscience: The students will acquire basic knowledge and experimental skills about neuroscience, and should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report. Kawano Laboratory: The students will acquire basic knowledge and skills of microfabrication, MEMS and microfluidic system and application to development of biomaterials, and should present a recent paper closely related to artificial cell membrane and membrane protein and summarize the content in a report. Nagasawa Laboratory: The students will expect to acquire as follows: 1) Oxidation reaction of alcohol 2) Reduction reaction of carbonyl compound 3) Reduction reaction of alken 4) Purification of compound. Sakurai Laboratory: The students will expect to acquire the basic experimental skills of the structural analysis, bioactive evaluation and organic synthesis of biological molecules derivatives, and should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report. Yohda, Shinohara and Noguchi Laboratory: The students will expect to acquire the basic experimental skills about PCR and protein expression system. Nakamura, Nakamura and Kim Laboratory: The students will acquire basic knowledge and experimental skills, and should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report. |
