Course description
This lecture will be offered by a part-time lecturer Dr.Akihiko Motegi. Dr. Motegi is conducting research on chemical engineerings and catalysis at the University of Tokyo. The contents of the lecture may be changed by the lecturer.

The purpose
Chemical engineering is based on the quantitative treatment of “equilibrium” and “rate of change” and utilizing the results for phenomenon analysis, device design, operation design, control, etc. In this lecture, we will learn the laws and ideas about the foundation of "equilibrium" and "rate of change".

Overview
What is the state (equilibrium) in which a substance exists stably in nature, the speed at which the state of matter is about to change, and the driving force that causes it? learn. After learning the concept of equilibrium and the concept of velocity, we will learn how to express transfer rate and transfer rate, and how to use it, which involves three physical quantities: substance (component concentration), momentum (flow) and heat (energy).
Expected Learning
You will learn (understand) about the rules of "Equilibrium" and "Change (rate)". What is the state (equilibrium) in which a substance exists stably in nature, the reaction speed and the driving force.

Assessment/Grading
Mainly intermediate examination and regular examination. We will also evaluate the answers from the exercises we conducted in the weekly lectures.
80% of intermediate and regular exams, 20% of exercises and reporting points. The score is evaluated by S, A, B, C, D. S is 90 or more, A is 80 or more and less than 90, B is 70 or more and less than 80, C is 60 or more and less than 70, D is less than 60 So, the pass line of achievement level is more than C 60 points.
