Course description |
Bio engineering is applied to material production as well as waste or wastewater treatment processes. In this class, we will learn how to design bio process reactors basing on principles of bio engineering, such as characteristics of enzymes or microorganisms. |
Expected Learning |
1. Understanding characteristics of enzymatic reaction or growth of microbes. 2. Understanding material production or environmental processes using bio engineering approach. 3. Analysis of kinetics of enzymatic reaction or growth of microorganisms. 4. Design of bioreactors. |
Course schedule |
1: Guidance (Role of bio process engineering in our life) 2: Enzyme 3: Microorganism 4: Bioprocess using enzymes or microbes 5: Enzyme immobilization 6: Kinetics of enzymatic reaction and growth of microbes 1 7: Kinetics of enzymatic reaction and growth of microbes 2 8: Interim summary (Interim exam) 9: Type of bioreactor 10: Design of bioreactor 1 11: Design of bioreactor 2 12: Design of bioreactor for wastewater treatment 13: Separation and purification of products 14: Resource problem and bioprocess 15: Summary (Final exam) |
