Course description |
The students are expected to be able to understand and estimate the energy consumption reduction by following 2 contents. 1) Calculation method of carbon dioxide emissions from fuel combustion, 2) Technology development of energy conversion. This course also includes an explanation on a practical problems and solutions by lectures with practical experience. |
Expected Learning |
The students can understand and explain the method to calculated CO2 emission following the combustion, the basic technology in energy conversion, power generation, and energy efficiency. Corresponding criteria in the Diploma Policy: See the Curriculum maps. |

1: Introduction, fuel characteristics 2: Calculation of CO2 emission 3: Gas fuel 4: Liquid fuel 5: Fuel conversion, oxygen enrichment combustion 6: Advanced power generation system: Recent and future 7: Practice and summary of CO2 emission 8: Interim exam 9: Interim exam explanation and summary for the first half 10: Concept of exergy and entropy, and their analyses 11: The minimization of energy and exergy losses 12: Energy conversion technologies and their possible system development 13: Energy-efficient power generation system 14: Future energy system involving hydrogen: Its production, storage and utilization 15: Report, and summary for the latter half Lectures 1-5 and 7-9 are delivered by Dr. Oda, while 6 and 10-15 are delivered by Dr. Aziz |
