Course description
The purpose of this lecture is to understand the basic theory of fluid dynamics related to airplanes and rockets,and in addition, to understand the mechanism of aerodynamic force acting on the object.
This lecture is part of the Course of the Aerospace and Energy, and provides the expressions of flow fields using the complex velocity potential. In addition, the flow field around a wing body and the mechanism of lift force generation are lectured.
After that, the basics of the compressible fluid dynamics are lectured.
Expected Learning
The standard of this course is to understand the basics of advanced fluid dynamics related with the aerospace engineering (especially, flow expression using the complex velocity potential and the compressible fluid dynamics).

2. Complex velocity potential and potential flows
3. Potential flow around a cylinder and hydrodynamic force
4. Zhukovskij transformation
5. Kutta-Zhukovskij theorem
6. Summary of the first half of the lecture
Midterm exam
7. Review of thermodynamics
8. Basic concept of compressible flow
9. Governing equations of compressible flow
10. Quasi-1D flow
11. Flow through the De Laval nozzle
12. Formation of shock waves and theorem of vertical shock wave
13. Theorem of oblique shock wave
14. Theorem of expansion wave
15. Summary of the latter half of the lecture

Prerequisites
This is part of the Course of the Aerospace and Energy.
In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to prepare for the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University and using the lecture note and references specified below.
