Course description |
The term "system" can be found in any aspect of our world, e.g., solar system, social system, information processing system, computer system, immune system. Especially, information processing systems have grown to be complex, which requires systematic method to analyze the requirements, design, implementation, testing, and operation. In this course, various method in requirement analysis and functional design are introduced. In this class, a group work is performed. This class is offered by a lecturer who has a practical experience in industry regarding software development and shows examples in a company. |
Expected Learning |
- Can explain the definition of system, objects, problems and issues - Can explain the notion of ubiquitous computing with emphasis on the relationship with system engineering - Can explain the problem solving process - Can explain the requirement analysis - Can explain the idea generation support - Can explain the problem structure analysis, e.g., ISM - Can explain the system modeling - Can explain the alternative selection methods, e.g., AHP - Can explain the reliable system architecture - Can explain the relevant technologies for ubiquitous computing, e.g., location systems This class falls under the Department of Engineering Diploma Policy (B). |

Message from instructor(s) |
You might imagine that "system development = programming", but programming is only a small portion of the development process. I would like you to understand that system development involves a number of human factors although targeting computer systems. Furthremore, for those who plan to work in the IT industry in the future, it will help to identify their position. |
