Course description
This course describes various methods for genetic analyses and their applications for cancer research, an introduction to next generation sequencing technologies and an overview of gene literacy education for promoting public understanding of life science and biotechnology.
Expected Learning
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
(1) Learn genetic and environmental factors in carcinogenesis.
(2) Understand analytical methods for point mutations, SNPs and DNA methylation.
(3) Discuss the prospects for new technologies of genetic analysis.

1. Genetic analysis of disease-related genes
Introduction to methods for genetic analyses and their applications for cancer research. This course describes molecular analyses of cancer-related genes in hereditary and sporadic gastroenterological cancers.

Prerequisites
Knowledge of undergraduate level of molecular biology and gene technology is required.
In addition to the lectures in the class, you are recommended to prepare and review the class using the standard amount of time as specified by the university for each class.
