Course description
Conservation of soil environment plays an important role in global environment such as global warming as well as securing the foundation of human life and agricultural activities. In this course, from the physical aspect of the soil, students will learn the various problems related to fate and transport of chemicals in the soil and learn about the knowledge and method necessary for preserving the soil environment. In addition, exercises on simulating mass transport in soils will be exercised by using the water flow and chemical transport simulating program HYDRUS to predict the fate and transport of chemicals.

In this course, the basic theory of spatial analysis of environmental data using geostatistic (geostatistics) will be also introduced. Students learn about spatial interpolation methods and constructing probabilistic models of spatial data by extracting features of spatial distribution and variation using geostatistical methods.
