Plant hormones: physiological roles, action mechanism and application in agriculture.

Plant growth, development and response to environmental signals are regulated by various plant hormones. Last 10 years, our knowledge on plant hormone biology has been surprisingly increased by using novel technologies of molecular genetics, analytical chemistry and developmental biology. In this course, I will talk about the roles of plant hormones, mainly auxin and cytokinin, in plant development and adaptation to environment at molecular and chemical basis. I also introduce the recent progress in the field of plant hormone biology.
・There is a possibility of changing to online lectures.
Expected Learning
・Understand plant hormone’s roles, action mechanism and application to agriculture.

・Biosynthesis and inactivation of plant hormones.
・Transport and signal transduction of plant hormones.
・Application of plant hormones to agriculture.
Prerequisites
Students who take this course are encouraged to read the plant hormone section in text book.
