* Day 1 will be held face-to-face in principle. Students from Ibaraki Univ. and Utsunomiya Univ. can participate by zoom.

face-to-face class room:The 2nd meeting room, 4th floor,Main building of United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, TUAT

Day 2 will be held online by zoom. The details will be informed to the registered students.
* Since this course includes group work, students need microphone and camera in principle, and they will be required to turn on the videos during the class to show their faces. They can use vertical backgrounds.

“Global Communication”
It is time now to communicate and expand your research globally. In this course, as a global Ph.D. human resources, students will train international communication skills in English, which is necessary for self-introduction and promotion, persuasive explanation of research, its appeal, obtaining of research fund, constructive discussion with others, and positive and comfortable collaboration with global partners, etc.

This course will be held in English.
Expected Learning
- Be able to think concretely the methods to communicate students’ own outcomes from research or other activities and to approach to the ideal future by understanding the concept of self-branding.
- Be able to consider the appropriate communication according to the audience and purposes, and put it into practice.
- Be able to notice about “Kaizen (improvement)” of your way of communication.
- Be able to flexibly improve your communication skill in English.

Lecturer: Misaki Matsui (photographer / film director / concierge for entrepreneurs at STARTUP HUB TOKYO TAMA)
After working as a marketing planner at the advertising agencies in Japan, she moved to New York and began her career as a photographer. She has exhibited in the U.S. and Japan. She started making films as well and her narrative and documentary films have been selected for the Raindance Film Festival, the Monaco International Film Festival, and the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia. And her photo book, “Tokyo Mindscapes” has been selected for the International Photography Awards and the London International Creative Competition. She is based in Tokyo and New York. She works as a concierge for entrepreneurs at STARTUP HUB TOKYO TAMA.

Theme: Self-branding
Participants will work on the following three exercises:
- Analyze themselves and define originality and strengths of their personalities for self-branding
- Combine knowledge related to their academic study with business mind to develop new products / services, and to think about self-branding
- Brush up communication and presentation skills to communicate their personality and their business content to the general audience

Theme: Speaking with Impact
By the end of this session, participants will be able to use innovative communication tools to design communication strategies for global business, enabling them to speak more persuasively to a wider and non-academic online audience. Activities will feature best practices for designing more assertive and strategic approaches to selling your work & message.
