Course description
This mandatory course is designed to provide students in veterinary medicine with a general background in biochemistry. The focus is on concepts fundamental to the veterinary biochemistry.
Expected Learning
At the end of the course, a successful student will be able to:
(1)describe the structures of biomolecules and the relationship between their structures and functions (2)recognize the roles of biomolecules, including nucleic acids and protein synthesis (3)gain an appreciation that the diseases are associated with abnormalities in biochemistry
Course schedule
Biochemistry is the common ground for the life sciences. Content will inculde the structures of biomolecules, and their reactions in living organisms. The topics will cover the principal classes of biomolecules; proteins, carbohydrate, lipids, and nucleic acids.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of basic chemistry is required. Please pay attention to the schedule.
