Course description
The lecture mainly focuses on the biodegradation of plant biomass by microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and termites.

【Purpose】The students learn the basics of plant biodegradation in order to understand the properties of plant biomass, its conversion techniques, and wood protection technology.

【Summary】The lecture introduces the mechanisms of plant degradation by fungi and termites. Industrial application of plant biodegradation is also introduced in this lecture.

Expected Learning
Through the lecture, students are expected to acquire the deep knowledge of the biodegradation of woody biomass, and understand the recent trends of biomass conversion.
