Course description |
Comparative ethology refers to the study that explores the function of behavior by observing the behavior of animals. In this lecture, we will discuss the cognitive processing behind animal behavior regulation from the perspective of comparative cognitive science. By comparing different animal species, we will consider what environmental and phylogenetic constraints have evolved our cognitive function. |
Expected Learning |
1) Understanding how to analyze animal behavior and to interpret cognitive processes behind behavior. 2) Explaining cognitive diversity in various animals in terms of phylogeny and adaptation. 3) Understanding cognitive characteristics of humans by comparing with other animals.
