Course description
The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the TOEIC
test. Students will focus on useful strategies for
each section of the tests as well as developing their knowledge of
relevant vocabulary and grammatical structures. Among these tests, this
class aims to obtain the skills of listening, structure, and reading to
get higher scores in TOEIC L&R. Through various kinds of TOEIC
exercises, students are expected to gain knowledge and skills to use
English for international communication, which will enable them to get
more than 550, equivalent to CEFR B1.
Expected Learning
1) Students will be exposed to listening, grammar, and reading with various TOEIC-related topics.
2) Students will earn the knowledge, understand the sentence structures, and read a variety of passages found in daily and business issues.
3) Students will apply such knowledge and skills to the activities in their future workplaces.

Unit1: Orientation
・Confirm students’ English communication skill levels and learn how to adjust their communication level with others
・Share students’ current and future communication-related issues
・Understand how TOEIC is related to career development
・Confirm the curriculum from Unit1 to Unit 15
Unit2: Understand and describe situations
・TOEIC part 1 exercise (Communication skill required in part 1→Describe pictures→Example exercise→Test making practice→Time and mental management for part 1 exercise)
Unit3: Question skills prerequisite for communication
・TOEIC part 3 exercise (Communication skill required in part 2→Example exercise→Question making and test making practice→Time and mental management for part 2 exercise)
Unit4: How to attend and observe conversations as the third party

Prerequisites
This course carries one credit. In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to study independently with Academic Express 3, an e-learning system available outside the university. Also, students must attend at least 2/3 of the course in order to receive credit. If you are late for the class twice, it will be counted as one time of absence.
