Course description |
[Summary and Purpose] Biomaterial is a term that refers to various materials used in the medical field, such as artificial organs, contact lenses, and surgical tools. The purpose of this lecture is to understand biomaterials from the basics to the practical use. This course is a part of specialized course III classified as specialized subjects in the Department of Applied Chemistry. |
Expected Learning |
To acquire knowledge of biomaterials that are useful in polymer and medicine fields. For the curriculum policy perspective of this course, please refer to the curriculum map in the Faculty of Engineering Course Guide. |
Course schedule |
(1) Basic properties of biomaterials 1 (2) Basic properties of biomaterials 2 (3) Basic properties of biomaterials 3 (4) Biomaterials (polymer) 1 (5) Biomaterials (polymer) 2 (6) Biomaterials (metal) (7) Biomaterials (ceramics) (8) Review and midterm examination (9) Artificial organs (10) Biomaterials in regenerative medicine 1 (11) Biomaterials in regenerative medicine 1 (12) Biomaterials for DDS 1 (13) Biomaterials for DDS 2 (14) Biomaterials for diagnosis (15) Review and final examination |
Prerequisites |
In addition to the class hours, please prepare and review according to the standard time presented by the university. |
Required Text(s) and Materials |
Not specified (I would like to make a lecture in which each student understands and summarizes the written and oral explanations in this lecture to be a textbook on biomaterials for everyone). |
References |
Not specified (I think that any commercially available book concerning general biomaterials will be a reference book for this lecture). |
Assessment/Grading |
Midterm examination: 50% Final examination: 50% In order to evaluate the degree of achievement of the goal ("Expected Learning" mentioned above), a wide range of problems from basic questions to description problems are used in examinations. --------------------------------------- The grade evaluation in the online class is premised on reports, online tests and the attitude to learn. Standard study time set by our university is required to get the grade. The rate of evaluation is as follows: Reports and online tests: 80% and normal score: 20%. |
