Course description |
Various kinds of elements in periodic table will be given and materials are classified in terms of materials used in commercial products in smartphone, PC, solar cell, camera, light emitting diode, and various sensors. Characteristics of metal, insulator, semiconductor will be given, and fundamental properties are lectured. Based on the lectures, students themselves survey the material. The purpose of this lecture is to reviewing and further understanding of the electromagnetism and quantum mechanism, which have been studied so far. |

Course schedule |
1st: Background of Electrical and Electronic Material Engineering. 2nd-3rd.: Survey of various elements in periodic table, and classification in terms of application, chemical/electric/optical/magnetic properties. Making group for material survey. 4th ? 5th : Classification of material based on the electric conductivity, such as metal, semiconductor, and insulator. 6th ? 7th: Classification of materials based on optical properties, such as transparent, absorptive, optoelectronic conversion materials, light emitting material, optical confining material, and optical guiding materials. 8th-10th: Classification of materials based on the magnetic properties. Magnetic dipole moment are given. Ferromagnetic and paramagnetic materials are lectured. Presentation of material survey by group works. 11th to 15 th: Presentation of material survey by group works. |
