Course description |
As the subsequent course of Manufacturing ProcessesⅠ, in Manufacturing Processes Ⅱ, the theory and practice of injection molding and pressing, grinding, polishing, welding, joining, additive manufacturing, surface treatment, and related technologies will be taught. (Omnibus / Total 15 classes) (Wataru Natsu / 8 classes) Learn about the theory and practice of technologies of casting, die and mold used for mass production, injection molding, and plastic working. (Hiroyuki Sasahara / 7 classes) Learn about grinding and polishing, which uses abrasive grains to perform highly accurate machining, welding to join metals, additive manufacturing that creates shapes by adding materials, and surface treatments that give functions to the surface. (Omnibus / Total 15 classes) (Hiroyuki Sasahara / 8 classes) Students will learn the machining principle of cutting process of metals, ceramics, plastics, etc. And they also learn machine tools and the relationship with design of the products. (Wataru Natsu / 7 classes) (1) Learn the principles and features of electric discharge machining and electrolytic machining, in which the tool does not contact the workpiece, regardless of the hardness of the material, and the machining system including the machining power supply and control device. |

Course schedule |
1. Guidance. Understand the characteristics of various processing methods in production, the features of the die and mold industry, and the technical characteristics and trends of die and mold, especially injection molding and pressing. 2. Casting 1. Lear about the outline of casting, the workflow of sand casting, casting models, dimensions and characteristics of wooden molds, and mold composition. 3. Casting 2. Learn about types and characteristics of different casting methods, especially die-casting and precision casting. 4. Injection molding 1. Learn about types and characteristics of plastics, the outline and features of injection molding, technical elements related to molding machines, and element technologies related to molds. 5. Injection molding 2. Learn about the technical issues of injection molding, such as molding cycle, mold structure, draft, heat shrinkage, release resistance, and undercut. 6. Plastic working 1. Learn about the features of plastic working, the main plastic working methods and product types, the technical features of rolling, forging, extrusion, and drawing. 7. Plastic working 2. Learn about the technical contents and features of shearing, bending, and drawing in press working. Understand the can design and can manufacturing process. 8. Summary of review from 1) to 7).
