Course description
The purpose of the Functional Control of Natural Resources I is to understand chemical, physical and structural properties of plant biomass, and study the technique to efficiently utilize biomass. Therefore, it is a required subject for students learning Field of Functional Control of Natural Resources.
Though 3 classes will be held, students firstly have a lecture on the outline by Dr. Horikawa and select 2 classes where each staff will give 7 lectures (total 15 lectures).

In the class of Dr. Kasuya, students study analysis methods and chemical reaction of polysaccharide constructing plant biomass.
In the class of Dr. Ohmi, students learn adhesion and high durability of wood and wood-based materials.
In the class of Dr. Horikawa, students study the cell wall components and their structure to understand the biomass utilization.
Expected Learning
Students can understand fundamental properties of biomass and its analysis technique for better utilization.
