Course description |
Aims: Students will learn the theory and research methods for ecosystem conservation based on vegetation science, biodiversity conservation, landscape ecology, and hydrosphere ecology. Outline: YOSHIKAWA class This course offers lectures and practical exercises to learn the importance of semi-natural vegetation and the technique of vegetation management. AKASAKA class This course provides students with practical exercises, particularly focusing on statistical analyses on field-obtained data of plants, insects and animals. |
Expected Learning |
Students are required to gain knowledge of vegetation science, biodiversity conservation, landscape ecology, and hydrosphere ecology. And you need to gain ability to apply it to actual conservation planning. Corresponding criteria in the Diploma policy: See the curriculum maps. http://www.tuat.ac.jp/campuslife_career/campuslife/policy/ |

Prerequisites |
This lecture is an elective subject, and is one of the specialized subjects. The students are required to have basic knowledge of ecology, vegetation science, biodiversity conservation, and landscape ecology. Students need to preview and review for an amount of time as indicated in the student guidelines of TUAT, in addition to the attendance of lecture (30 ours). Akasaka class: students are required to have basic knowledge on generalized linear models. Ordination analyses, and programming in R environment. Students are required to take ‘Exercise for Methods of Agricultural Experimental design and Statistical Analysis I’ which is offered in the same semester. This class is partially intensive, participants must attend the first lecture (introduction). |
