Course schedule |
The concept of this course is to provide an opportunity for students to read through the results of research in the humanities and social sciences (in the case of this course, particularly from a sociological and historical perspective) related to the research areas of the Graduate School of Agriculture (agriculture, forestry and fisheries, rural areas, production, environment, the management and use of natural resources such as forests, and food), and to consider what new research areas and perspectives can be developed in the humanities and social sciences in the Graduate School of Agriculture. With this concept in mind, we will be reading in circles a few academic books that fit the theme of the outline. For the past two years, we have taken up the theme of forests and read works on forest history. This year we are planning to focus on sericulture. The reasons and aims for this will be explained in the guidance. The following two books are planned to be read in this year. 1.高木賢『日本の蚕糸のものがたり‐横浜開港後150年波乱万丈の歴史‐』(大成出版社、2014年、907円+税) 2.沢辺満智子『養蚕と蚕神 近代産業に息づく?俗的想像力』(慶応大学出版会、2020年、5600円+税) Notes on the course Each participant will take it in turn to be a reporter (or moderator, as the case may be) for the readings. It is assumed that all participants, including non-reporters, will have read the relevant parts of the book in advance of the class. As we will be reading several research books in one semester, the number of pages to be read in each class will be considerable. It is essential that students read the book before attending. Please note that it is also necessary for students to obtain their own copies of the readings in advance. Schedule (The final schedule will be announced in class) Lesson 1.
