Course description
This course aims to allow students to review or carry out their master's thesis research from a different perspective than their area of expertise. Students are expected to acquire new knowledge and analytical methods by participating in seminars and workshops under the guidance of professors other than their supervisor.
Students will regularly provide seminars on their research progress, followed by a question-and-answer presentation and attend a workshop on rural development studies.
These activities help students improve the scope and quality of their dissertation research.
Expected Learning
A student is expected to gain the logic system of rural development studies on agriculture and fundamental knowledge and application which is essential for her/his own research. Also, a student is required to carry out research and communicate the results in professional manners, with due attention to research ethics.

Course schedule
1st <Introduction> Exchange of information on the relevance to master's thesis, guidance, confirmation of research concept with a sub-supervisor.
2nd to 15th with sub-supervisor: Under the guidance of supervisor (sub-supervisor) different from the main supervisor, students will develop research concept and research plan as well as summarizing the results, analysis, interpretation of the results and so on. In addition, by receiving feedback from the sub-supervisor professor, students acquire information that is useful for making the master thesis, and receive advice for research results and writing of the thesis. Students also discuss the results of the research and their applicability.
Prerequisites
Related to subjects of the thesis, it is a required compulsory subject which is divided into special research A group. Subjects of special study group A open for April enrollment students, enrollees for October should take subjects of special study group B.
