The aim of this class is to support your research activities through critical reading, writing and presentation inside and outside your laboratories. ※Please attend the orientation which will be held at the first class if you plan to register the course. |

IMPORTNAT NOTICE: The class will be held in a blended (f2f & online classes) style, but the first class will be held online. To obtain some knowledge about Second Language Acquisition studies 2. To read academic articles critically and write papers based on your critical language awareness 3. To make a traditional, shock, or hybrid presentation for your research based on your critical reading and writing 4. To conduct these activities in English |
Course schedule |
The details will be given in the first class (6th of October in 2016), so you must not miss the 1st class. In addition, this class will give you resources and strategies for improving your English, based on theoretical framework of Second Language Acquisition study. The following is the plans of the classes, but the contents will be varied. 1. Introduction 2. What does "critical" mean? 3. Critical Reading (1) -critical choice- 4. Critical Reading (2) -opinion or argument- 5. Critical Reading (3) -five critical synopsis questions- 6. Introduction to Second Language Acquisition Study 7. Critical Writing (1) -how to be self-critical writer- 8. Critical Writing (2) -critical summary- 9. Exploration of Second Language Acquisition Study 10. The mechanics of academic presentation -shock presentation- 11. Critical Writing to Presentation (1) -pre-writing activities- 12. Critical Writing to Presentation (2) -writing draft- 13. Applying Second Language Acquisition studies to L2 learning pedagogies 14. Presentation (1) 15. Presentation (2) |
Prerequisites |
In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to prepare for and review the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University and using the lecture handouts as well as the references specified below. |
