Course description |
Class code: dkdsljt The aim of this course is to introduce students to basic strategies in scientific communication. In this course, students will be engaged in class activities such as presenting a brief summary of their research, making persuasive arguments, developing coping strategies for discussion, asking critical and constructive questions, and managing a round-table scientific discussion. At the end of the course, each student will give a presentation on their research, which will be followed by a discussion session. |

Students will learn basic skills useful for effectively communicating their scientific research, formulating arguments and leading constructive discussions. |

1. Course objectives; Introductions 2. Presenting a brief self-introduction and summary of research: Guidelines; Spoken vs written English; Oral presentation skills 3. Presenting a brief self-introduction and summary of research: Practice session and feedback 4. Making persuasive arguments for scientific discussion 5. Coping strategies for scientific discussion: Clarification, interrupting, asking questions, dealing with difficult questions, etc. 6. Student presentation and managing a round-table scientific discussion 1 (Coattendance by their advisors). 7.
