Course description |
We need to understand and control transport phenomena of mass, heat and momentum to realize a optimal condition for the use of materials. In this lecture, we study how to describe phenomena in a mathematical form. By solving problems in each class, we understand basics in modeling. This class focuses on fundamental issues of mathematical modeling. |

The contents below would be changed depending upon your understanding. The following is an example in 2019. 1st Units and equation of state for ideal gas, integration and derivative 2nd Conservation of mass in Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor(CSTR) 3rd Conservation of mass in Plug flor Reactor (PFR) 4th Fundamental equations for heat exchangers (Parallel and countercurrent Flows) 5th Conservation of mass in CSTR with gas dissolution 6th Adsorption, desorption, surface reaction of gases, the rate-limiting step 7th Evaporation of water and diffusion of water vapor in a glass. 8th Summary and revise Final Exam |
Prerequisites |
Students should understand fundamental methods to solve diffrential equations. In addition to 15 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to prepare for and revise the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University. |

Assessment/Grading |
Excersises in each class (30%) and the final examination (70%). Total score is 100 and students with a score more than 60 are certified. S: >90, A: 90-80, B: 80-70, C: 70-60. |
