9:00 - 12:00 Prof. Otsu (TUAT) Google classroom
13:00- 16:00 Prof. Sato (Ibaraki) Teams

・ In this lecture, we will learn about the mechanism of plants or microorganisms that counter unsuitable soil conditions for agriculture, research examples to elucidate it, and the efforts that are actually being performed to overcome these in agriculture.
・ This is a lecture course to acquire a high degree of specialized ability in the field of bioproduction science by learning the latest knowledge and technology in agricultural science.
・ In active learning, students will learn by investigating and presenting their own assignments and discussing with each other.

・ We will learn the technical significance and methods of reducing the environmental burden of crop production technology through local cases.
・ This is a lecture course to acquire a high degree of specialized ability in the field of bioproduction science by learning the latest knowledge and technology in agricultural science.
・ In class, I will make it easier for students with different fields to imagine by using photographs and practival cases.
Expected Learning

・ Understand the mechanism of plants to counter unsuitable soil environments.
・ After understanding the content of the lecture, you will be able to think about how to deal with problems related to the unsuitable soil environment that occur at agricultural sites.
・ Please refer to the curriculum map of the course guide.

・ Understand the significance of reducing the environmental burden in crop production technology.
・ Deepen understanding of specific environmental load reduction methods.
・ Please refer to the curriculum map of the course guide.
Course schedule

【Course schedule】 (必須項目Required)

・ Each student will give a 10-minute presentation on the mechanism of plants or microorganisms to counter unsuitable soils, research examples to elucidate them, or the efforts that are actually being made to overcome them in agriculture. Unsuitable soil includes poor nutrient soils, soils with high salt, and soils contaminated with toxic elements or substances. It is even better to include how the unsuitable conditions were caused in the soils. If you present about the efforts being made in the fields to overcome this, target cases where biological mechanisms such as plants or microorganisms are used instead of fertilization and soil improvement. The presentation will be made in English.
・ Discuss each other's presentations.
・ The teacher will give summaries and supplementary explanations.

・ Reducing the environmental burden in crop production
・ Types, characteristics, and issues of environmental burden reduction methods
・ Case study: Optimizing and minimizing the amount of fertilizer applied by drip fertilization
・ Case study: Appearance of fungicide-resistant pathogen and alternative protective methods
Prerequisites
In addition to the 7.5 hours of class time and the time required to create presentations, reports, prepare and review using the lecture materials and reference books according to the standard number of hours of the university.
