Course description
07, 06, 2021(Tue) 9:00 -
The seminar room, 4th floor,
Main building of United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, TUAT
(Dr. Saito)
In this class, students will learn basic knowledge on visualization of subsurface hydrological processes using geophysical tools and how to use such information to infer soil hydrological parameters.
(Dr. Watanabe)
The lectures provide conceptual knowledge of pollutant fate in the environment, especially about pesticide fate in the environment. Monitoring and modeling of environmental fate of pesticide will be lectured.
Expected Learning
(Dr.Saito)
Students are expected to understand basics of applying geophysical techniques to visualize subsurface hydrological processes.
(Dr. Watanabe)
Upon taking this lectures, students are expected to explain methods and importance of pesticide fate monitoring as well as modeling of pesticide fate in the environment.
Course schedule
(Dr. Saito)
1. Introduction
2. Application of geophysical techniques to visualize subsurface hydrological processes
3. Case study.
(Dr. Watanabe)
Lecture title: Monitoring and modeling of environmental fate of pesticide
(1) Introduction: rice production, pesticide use and environmental impacts, (2) Monitoring of pesticide in rice paddy and upland field, (3) Modeling of pesticide in rice paddy and upland field, (4) report assignment

Prerequisites
(Dr. Saito)
Basic knowledge on soil physics would be a plus.
