Course description
International exchange workshops are held, focusing on overseas partner institutions of the WISE Program (Cornell University [US], University of California, Davis [US], University of Bonn [Germany], ZALF (Germany), Gadjah Mada University [Indonesia], Vietnam National University of Forestry [Vietnam], and Oxford University [UK]).
In these workshops, students focus on their own research themes and interests, and discuss topics such as global-scale problems and their solution on a scientific basis from the perspective of agriculture-engineering collaboration, the Smart Society, etc. In addition, students cultivate the temperament of global professionals through interaction with graduate students, faculty members, and researchers belonging to partner institutions.

This year, this course may be held online.
Basically, participation in “International Workshops” offered by WISE Program is recommended, but if students took the equivalent courses in their or other departments, or if students conducted activities equivalent to this course, in terms of contents, study hours, and desired goals and competencies, students may apply for credit transferring to this course. For details, please refer to the Credit Transfer Application Guidelines provided separately.
Expected Learning
- Deepen understanding of problems the world faces from the perspective of agriculture-engineering collaboration and the Smart Society, and cultivate scientifically-based ethical thinking and explanation abilities.
- Develop the ability to discuss state-of-the-art research in English.
- Develop communication and teamwork capabilities with different cultures.
