Course description |
The goal of Introduction to Veterinary Medicine is to clearly understand the role and overall picture of veterinary medicine. In this lecture, you will learn the veterinary philosophy required by veterinary medicine, veterinary practice, and veterinarians. In veterinary historiography, you will learn about historical consideration of veterinary affairs in the relationship between human beings and animals and history of veterinary education in Japan. In addition, you will learn about the mission of veterinarians in contemporary Japan, the outline of veterinary practice, comparative theory with foreign veterinarians, and international contributions, etc., and understand the social necessity and meaning of veterinarians. The lecture of this course consists of omnibus-style classes by experienced teachers and comprehensive discussions based on presentations by students. The teacher in charge has experience of working as a clinical veterinarian, business such as a company, civil servant, etc. In this lecture, practical experience as a veterinarian, actual experience, on-site task etc. were taken as subjects for discussion. |

Prerequisites |
This lecuture is a specialized education subject and a compulsory subject of cooperative veterinary meidine. In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to prepare for and revise the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University and using the lecture handouts as well as the references specified below. |
