Course description |
The lecture deals with the processes of gamete (egg or sperm) formation in the reproductive organs (ovary or testis), fertilization, and differentiation of various organs constituting the animal body, focusing on the stage of early development. |
Expected Learning |
Learning basic knowledge to understand the regulatory mechanisms of development of the animal and differentiation/maturation process of cells/tissues/organs by studying the developmental process of target tissues, organs or animals in veterinary medicine. Course schedule |
Seven consecutive lectures will be followed by the exam in the 8th lecture. The subject of each lecture will be as follows: 1st: Guidance, Origin of primordial germ cells, Gamete (egg and sperm) formation, and Fertilization 2nd: Cleavage, Gastrulation, and Differentiation of ectoderm 3rd: Differentiation of paraxial mesoderm: bone, muscle, and connective tissues 4th: Differentiation of intermediate mesoderm: urogenital organs 5th: Differentiation of lateral mesoderm: cardiovascular system, coelom, and skeletons of limbs 6th: Differentiation of endoderm 7th: Formation and function of placenta 8th: Summary and Exam |
Prerequisites |
In addition to 15 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to prepare for and revise the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University and using the lecture handouts as well as the references specified below. |

A comprehensive evaluation of perticipation points (20%) and test results (80%). Supplementary examination will be considered as necessary. |
