| Course description |
| This is a course of agricultural economy and management among the major subjects of the Department of Biological Production. Objective of this course is to develop the participants' knowledge of, and insights in agricultural development and international rural development cooperation. The first half of the course focuses on the basics of development economics, and theoretical knowledge of economic growth and the role of agriculture. The second half deals with the history, approaches and challenges of global agricultural development and development cooperation. The participants will form groups to study together a relevant topic, and present it in class at the end of the course. |

Participants will be able to understand and discuss the role of agriculture in economic development, varied courses of agricultural development and their conditions, and international cooperation for sustainable global agricultural development. | Prerequisites |
| Grading is based mainly on group-project presentation and submission, so preparation and review of classes should be conducted by group for standard hours set by the University. In addition to 30 hours in classes and time required for completing assignments, students are recommended to prepare for and review the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University and using the lecture handouts as well as the references. |
