Course description
In this lecture, the importance of soil management, which is the basis of crop production, will be outlined from the perspective of preventing global warming and cultivating environmentally friendly crops.
This subject is positioned as Frontier subject of in Department of Biological Production.
Expected Learning
Understand the importance of soil management in crop production and discuss the meaning of soil management in various cultivation methods such as no-till farming and organic farming.

Course schedule
A special lecture by Professor Komatsuzaki of Ibaraki University will be held intensively with the following contents.
1) Circulation of nutrients in soil
2) Soil management in various farming methods such as no-till farming and organic farming
Prerequisites
Students take the lecture, and are also recommend to prepare for and revise the lectures by using references and handouts, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University.

Assessment/Grading
We evaluate by attitude to the class (50%), and assignment (50%).
