Course description
In this class, you will learn both chemical thermodynamics dealing with macroscopic subjects and quantum chemistry dealing with microscopic subjects.
Expected Learning
[Chemical thermodynamics]
(1) Understand the parameters such as temperature, pressure and volume describing the macroscopic states of materials.
(2) Understand the change of states following the variation of temperature, pressure and volume.
(3) Understand the concept of entropy and free energy through the various thermodynamic laws.
[Quantum chemistry]
(1) Explain wave-particle duality.
(2) Construct Schrodinger’s wave equation
(3) Describe electron configurations of atoms and molecules.

Message from instructor(s)
You are encouraged to learn the contents of class by yourself to understand the chemical thermodynamics and quantum chemistry. Before the class, the lecture materials will be uploaded in Moodle. In the lecture, I will use the minimum formula for understanding the lecture. You are encouraged to understand the meaning of formula instead of memorizing the formula.
