Course description
This course aims to obtain the skills of listening, structure, and reading to get higher scores in various English proficiency test, such as TOEICR L&R, TOEFLR, IELTS TM Academic or Eiken Test. Through various kinds of exercises of a certain English proficiency test, students are expected to gain knowledge and skills to use English for international communication, academic purposes, etc. The goal of this class is to help participants obtain a score equivalent to CEFR B1.
Expected Learning
1) Students will be exposed to listening, grammar, vocabulary and reading with various topics which this course deals with
2) Students will earn the knowledge, understand the sentence structures, and read a variety of passages found in daily, business, and academic issues.
3) Students will apply such knowledge and skills to the activities in their future careers.

Prerequisites
This course carries one credit. In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to study independently with Academic Express 3, an e-learning system available outside the university. Also, students must attend at least 2/3 of the course in order to receive credit. If you are late for the class twice, it will be counted as one time of absence.

To examine whether you could conduct the expected learning for this course, your performance will be evaluated by the following criteria:
Class contribution (20%); In-class assignments and tests (80%)

More than 6 absences lead to no credit and 2 tardy arrivals are equivalent to 1 absence.
No less than 60 points in total are the prerequisite for your credit.
