Course description |
This 2-credit course provides students with a way of thinking and technique for utilization of material and energy resources from forests and sustainable utilization of forests as environment. It will address the fundamentals of engineering for resource utilization and its impacts on human and environment that are part of the Forest Science Program. The topics covered are engineering for wood production, forest machinery and operation and forest. Students will learn about forest operation, forest machinery and their system. |
Expected Learning |
Describe various operations through planting to harvesting of trees. Describe typical operational systems of timber production. Describe the definition of productivity and calculate it. Describe regulations for labor safety. Describe indicators and measurement methods for labor load. Describe functions, uses and mechanism of forest machinery. Describe fundamental knowledge of yarding cables. Describe relationship between geographical features and forest operation system. |
