Course description
The objective of this course is to learn basic skills for forest resources management. In the university forest, students will acquire the skills required to measure, estimate, and analyze diameter, height, volume, growing process, etc. of trees.
Expected Learning
1) To be able to measure diameter at breast height and the height of trees.
2) To be able to measure and estimate the forest stand volume using the sample plot method and plotless sampling method.
3) To be able to analyze the growing process and volume of a tree using stem analysis.

Course schedule
Mid-June: Guidance
Intensive class in September: Field practice in FM Karasawayama (Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture)
First day: Sample plot method
Second day: Sample plot method
Third day: Plotless sampling method
Fourth day: Stem analysis
Prerequisites
Students are recommended to take Forest Planning.
In completing this course, students will spend the standard amount of time as specified by the university.
