Course description
Based on elementary grammar and reading, this course is designed to develop a higher level of proficiency in translation or written communication.
Emphasis is on intercultural Understanding in German.

This course is offered to advance students' intercultural understanding applying the knowledge and skills acquired in German I and II.

Expected Learning
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
1. read and write high level German text with the aid of a dictionary.
2. understand and explain culture of the German language area.

Prerequisites
Students are requested to take "German Ⅰ・Ⅱ" .
Text of grammar and dictionary are needed.
Students are recommended to spend 45 minutes in preparing for each class, and another 45 minutes in completing assignments and revising the class.

Assessment/Grading
Exam (60%):to assess reading and translation ability based on basic grammar from German I and II, as well as intermediate grammar from this course.
Class participation (40%):
Class attendance and communication expression ability making sentences parallel to the class materials is evaluated.

In class, online tools will be used for tests and exams, as well as provision of materials. For this, a suitable IT environment is necessary. Please bring a PC that can connect to the internet and headphones or earphones.
