Reports and discussions on the results of science and technology are conducted in English, the common language of the world. In order to understand science and technology correctly and to present their own results, students will learn to express themselves accurately in English regarding science and technology. We will attempt a different format from the English-based classes that students have taken in the first and second years. |
| Expected Learning |
|
Goal: To improve students' awareness of English and to acquire basic English expressions related to science and technology. Students will read articles on topics in the field of science and technology and practice accurately grasping the contents and summarizing them in English. Students will read articles on topics in the field of science and technology and practice summarizing the contents in English. They will also learn basic vocabulary in the field of science and technology. (Sessions 1-8). In order to acquire practical English listening skills in the field of science and technology, students are trained to be able to listen to basic expressions as well as English sentences of a high practical level. In order to acquire practical English listening skills in the sciences, students will be trained to listen to basic expressions and English sentences at a high level. Students will also have opportunities to make oral presentations in English about their surroundings (e.g., self-introduction). (9th to 16th) |

In the first half of the class (mainly Prof. Chen), the focus is on reading. Students read articles related to "Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering" in academic journals in advance and answer quizzes on the contents individually. In the second half of the course (mainly Prof. Lenggoro), there will be many opportunities to do Listening, Writing & Speaking (Speech) in order to improve learners' communicative skills.
