*NOTE* Students will select the following two when you take this class. ① Issues in agricultural production in developing countries (offered in English) ② Entrepreneurship application (offered in Japanese) ① Issues, challenges, technological development, and technology diffusion in agricultural production sites in developing countries will be discussed, with a particular focus on rice cultivation. This course will include not only lectures but also group work and oral presentations, given by Dr. Kazuki Saito of the Africa Rice Center. ② we will cover hot topics that have emerged in recent years through lectures and exercises on entrepreneurship, learning about social implementation using research capabilities. The lecture will be given by Dr. Atobe of the Research and Education Zone for Future Value Creation. |
Expected Learning |
(1) Issues in agricultural production sites in developing countries (course offered in English) Students will learn what is needed to identify and solve problems in agricultural production sites in developing countries, and will be able to think about their own approaches to solving these problems. (2) Entrepreneurship Application (offered in Japanese) Based on their own research, they learn not only to be mere holders of innovative technologies and ideas, but also to (1) recognize and set their own problems, (2) create ideas for solving problems, design thinking,(3) understand entrepreneurship, (4) interview customers, (5) research and business plan creation methods, and (6) learn how to create their own planned products and services. The course aims to develop the ability to define and communicate "What value the product or service has for whom", to think through the story to get the other party to take positive action, and to apply it to real-life situations to move stakeholders. |

1) Issues in agricultural production sites in developing countries (course offered in English) This course will clarify various issues related to agriculture in the tropics and examine the development and diffusion of sustainable agricultural technologies. In particular, the course will touch the forefront of technological development of tropical rice cultivation. Prerequisites |
(1) Issues in agricultural production sites in developing countries. The study content will follow the standard number of hours of the University. Preparation and review should be conducted with reference materials and handouts.
