Course description |
The purpose of this lecture is to provide students with the knowledge on "comfort and amenity" and methods to evaluate degree of amenity. The lecture also has an opportunity to make suggestions for improving the amenity in living space. This lecture specifically focuses on "the amenity of human" and introduce the subjects and indicators that feel comfortable, the case examples with comfort design, the method of comfort design, etc. |

Understanding the recording procedure of biological signals and behavioral indices for evaluation of amenity/comfort. Understand the concept of human space design from the viewpoint of comfort. Course schedule |
[main class contents] Classes are held on Mondays 1st and 2nd hour. Week 1. Introduction: Definition of the comfort, amenity for human spaces Week 2. Approach to the amenity1: Information processing in the sensory system, and the central nervous system Week 3. Approach to the amenity 2: The autonomic nervous system, psychological and behavioral indices Week 4. Approach to the amenity 3: Record and analysis on biological signals Week 5. Designs of amenity spaces: Greening, universal design, accessibility, etc. Week 6. Group working 1: Assessing the amenity on campus Week 7. Group working 2: Improving the amenity on campus Week 8. Group working 3: Presentation and discussion |
Prerequisites |
This lecture is an elective subject and is one of the specialized subjects. Students need to preview and review for an amount of time as indicated in the student guidelines of TUAT, in addition to the attendance of lecture (30 hours). |

Assessment/Grading |
Evaluation standards are determined from the sum (100 % possible) of Participation (up to 60%) and Group working (up to 40%). Participation 60%: to assess basic knowledge about various indices on human amenity/comfort and the recording/measurement technique. Students should participate the class actively ・Group working 40%:to assess the abilities assessing on the human living environment and proposing improvements for it |
